This land remembers. It also keeps score.

An alternate-history folk-horror Western about colonialism, cultural memory, belonging, grief, love,
and what it actually means to know a place.

There are cowboys. There are old rules. There are things in the woods that were here first.

SO WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

The long answer involves colonialism, ownership, cultural memory, belonging, grief, love,
and what it actually means to know a place.

The short answer?

A drifter.
A surveyor.
An outlaw outfit.
A country increasingly unwilling to behave the way the maps say it should.

There are old gods, old trails, older stories, things in the woods—and rules nobody bothered writing down.

You get a head start and whatever else you figure out before dark.

YOU MAY HAVE BEEN LURED HERE BY:

Cowboys.
Folk horror.
Forced proximity.
A broody MMC who is considerably better at mortal danger than feelings.
A mouthy cartographer who would like to see the data.
Touch-her-and-die energy.
Things in the woods.
A deeply opinionated old horse.
Or the promise that there is, technically, only one bed a couple of times.

All of those things are present.

None of them are the point.

Into Old Country is a frontier saga about people, place, memory, and the dangerous assumption that inhabiting a land means understanding it.
